Welcome to SASKPIC's website!
Chapter News - March 2010
Thank you for viewing the SASKPIC website. My name is Joy Kellen and I have the privilege of being the 2010 CHICA-SASKPIC Chapter President.
Thank you to the outgoing Executive committee members for their leadership and guidance – working with this group and its members makes infection control seem easy and enjoyable!
In February, a very informative telehealth session was presented about Community Infection Prevention and Control program development. The next telehealth session will feature highlights from the CHICA-National conference and is scheduled for June 16, 2010.
The Executive continues pursing interdisciplinary hand hygiene initiatives with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA), the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Pharmacists Association, the Health Quality Council and the Ministry of Health.
SRNA continues to feature hand hygiene articles and promoting the initiative to their members. To further accreditation standards, the Ministry of Health, in consultation with SASKPIC and the provincial infection control network, will be providing a one-day hand hygiene symposium in the near future.
The Chapter is increasing its profile by enhancing linkages with the Provincial Infection Control network. In addition CHICA-SASKPIC is being profiled by the Executive when they provide an infection control presentation. If you are interested in using these slides to feature the Chapter please contact Colleen Lambert at clam@fhhr.ca.
This spring the Chapter will be conducting a member survey. We look forward to hearing your views. Stay tuned for these results.
The Chapter will celebrate its 20th Anniversary on September 17th at our 2010 Annual Education Day and general meeting. This year’s theme is Infection Control: It’s Simple - Easy! The venue will be at the Temple Gardens Spa and Hotel in Moose Jaw. Please consider attending to celebrate, network and learn with our colleagues. Topics will include Antibiotic Resistant Organisms and the work of our Northern MRSA collaborative.
