2010 Conference Objectives

In 2010, Vancouver will host the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, bringing together the best athletes from around the world to compete with and challenge each other. The excellence and skills shown by these top competitors encourage less experienced athletes to strive to achieve new heights in their athletic performance. Similarly, at its annual conference, CHICA-Canada attracts the best in Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) to share knowledge, research and best practices. The 2010 National Education Conference offers Infection Prevention and Control Professionals (ICPs) golden opportunities to learn and share with one another, celebrate successes and analyze opportunities for improvement. IP&C will soar to new levels of care. Infection Prevention and Control is in a race against numerous issues: antibiotic resistant organisms, emerging and re-emerging pathogens, health issues of an aging population, and new technologies that complement, yet challenge, existing knowledge and skills. It is essential for ICPs to understand these professional challenges and apply the best solutions that will result in better health care for Canadians. The objectives for the 2010 conference are:

1. To provide an educational forum to share ideas and practice techniques, and discuss problem scenarios and resolutions with peers;
2. To provide tools to assist ICPs to elevate the standard of practice;
3. To provide ICPs with enhanced knowledge to educate, lead, inspire, mentor, champion and collaborate within their healthcare setting;
4. To showcase CHICA-Canada as a pre-eminent source of Infection Prevention and Control expertise in Canada.
