Disaster Related Infections
Infection Prevention Following Natural Disasters
CHICA – Canada has joined with the International Federation
of Infection Control (IFIC) to provide support and assistance
to infection control professionals working in areas of the world
devastated by natural disasters. This website was created to provide
a number of links to useful internet resources for those involved
in infection prevention following a natural disaster. Information
is also available on the IFIC
Website.
In response to humanitarian efforts for Asia and East Africa,
the Guide for Safety and Infection Control for Oral Healthcare
Missions is available free from the Organization for Safety and
Asepsis Procedures (OSAP). This guide, supported by a CDC cooperative
agreement, addresses safe delivery of healthcare in resource deprived
situations including medical missions for disaster relief.
